Sizing Guide

Our Sizing Guide

Here at Sundae we acknowledge the binary nature of using language such as "masc" and "femme". And whilst those words are empowering for some, we understand that this does not capture the full spectrum of gender expression. We encourage all of our customers to find the fit that aligns to their baddest, best self, regardless of how they identify, express, live or love.

As a small business with small exclusive stock runs (aka 'Batches') we want to break the binary as much as possible, whilst still giving you a heads up on the fit and two types of suits we currently have available. Our more masc suits run with a longer short and more boxy cut, whilst our more femme suits are curvier and have a shorter short. Both styles are worn by folks across the gender spectrum.

Take a look at the sizing chart below and measure yourself up to find your fit's best fit.

The (Looking) Fine Print ... aka 'How to size yourself for a Sundae Suit'

Lets go for the short size first.

Waist Circumference – Take your tape measure and run it around your waist at the height you usually wear your pants. This is the length the shorts waist band is, so wrap it around where you want them to do up!

Seat Circumference – Unless you’ve got a whole lot more booty following you around than one would expect from your waist circumference, you can probably ignore this one. Otherwise take the ol' measuring tape and wrap it from the front, around your bum at it’s widest point and back to the front again. Remember you don’t want this one to be too tight at all, so an extra 10cm of room here is kinda needed for walking ect.

Leg lengths – Surely these ones are pretty self-explanatory. Outside measures from where the fabric starts at the top of the waist band, to where it stops at the bottom of the short. Inside measures from where the fabric starts at the bottom of the short, and stops where the fabric meets the fabric around the crotch.

Now for the jacket size.

Shoulder width – This is measured between the seams where the sleeves join the back of the suit. If you have a jacket with sleeves (we’re betting you do), check that.

Chest circumference – Best place to measure this one is around nipple height. Once again, you don’t want it skin tight, an extra 10cms is advisable.

Waist width – Feel your hip bone at its highest point (hint, its directly underneath your armpit, around belly button height) now wrap the tape measure around there. Once again, 10cm of extra width is advised.

There! Now you should know your size. 😉
